Short Stories

renate van nijenI like writing, I love to share my adventures with others and adventures seem to be part of my life.

I left my home country four times and spent six months in a kibbutz in Israel, as a teenager, then I emigrated to New Zealand at 21 where I became rather unhappy so I decided to return to Holland after over a year. This gave me a head start with many short stories to tell.

But I needed more adventures and went to live in Italy for a period of five years and eventually ended up in Spain where I have been living since 2003. A curious place to be. Especially in Andalusia, which I now call my home. A place that attracts many foreigners, sun, sea and adventure seekers adapting to a different culture. Many are fascinating and wonderfully weird.

They seem to cross my path, inspiring me. So I write about the interesting people I meet and about the often comical situations I seem to end up in.
“Stories” will give you a peak into my life through my short stories. Some are fact, some are fiction but all written with a sense of humour and clearly portraying my unique and positive view of the world.
